facilities planning committee update

Our membership has generously pledged $6.5 million to the Reaching Out and Drawing Near capital campaign. We anticipate that the majority of the funds will be collected within the next three years (2008-2010). Ten percent ($650,000) will be dedicated to Impact Outreach projects and these are already underway and partially funded. Approximately $750,000 will fund future Endowment. The balance of $5.0 million (net of campaign and Master Plan expenses) will go toward new and restored facilities.

A Facilities Planning Committee of eighteen dedicated volunteers, representing diverse perspectives and talents has been hard at work since February. The mission of the Facilities Planning Committee is to implement the Facilities Master Plan while acting as good stewards of our corporate and spiritual resources. The Committee’s responsibilities include the following:

* discerning priorities for projects with regard to identified needs and available resources;
* defining scopes of work for projects;
* requesting proposals, reviewing bids, and contracting with appropriate professionals;
* ensuring that projects proceed in a satisfactory and timely manner; and
* regularly informing the congregation of progress.

We are currently focused on discerning priorities for projects which we expect to present to the Session for their approval in the fall.
