Educational Programs
Nursery
The Second Presbyterian Church childcare staff provide a loving, safe, and clean environment for infants (8 weeks) through five-year-olds during both worship services. The care of your children is an important part of the ministry of our church. The Christian Education Council supervises this ministry. Nurseries are located on the main level of the Smith Hall building. Infants and young toddlers (not walking) are in Room 103 and walking toddlers through five-year-olds are in Room 104. Pagers are provided to allow staff to reach parents during the service should it become necessary. During Sunday School Hour (9:45-10:45, September through May), children ages 3-5 attend class downstairs in the classroom wing.

Pre-School through middle school (8th grade)
The Christian Education Council provides for self-contained classes with the same teachers.
Rock Solid Curriculum: In order for children to have faith and build a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, they must first experience what faith is like and see it lived out in the adults around them. Rock Solid will help you provide the foundation where this can happen. Research tells us that in order for children to "know," they must experience and find a nurturing environment to practice andprocess. Rock Solid sessions are built around Bible stories. The children will form a lasting relationship with the Bible as they hear the stories and relate to them on a personal level. Click HERE for Scope and Sequence PDF.
Pre-school through eighth grade classes take place on the lower level.

Senior High
Disciple Short-Term Bible Study
This study approaches the study of Hebrew Scriptures by inviting participants to hear the story of God and God's calling of the people of Israel through the many "voices" of the biblical text. Narrative, poem, history, and prophetic utterance all have their own distinctive characteristics and purpose, arising out of a particular historical, social, and cultural setting. To understand fully the story of God's covenantal relationship with Israel calls for listening to these various ways the story is told throughout the Old Testament. What does it mean to be God's chosen people? And how does the story of Israel's covenant with God inform our own identity as heirs of that covenant? Through this study, participants will be invited to listen afresh to the witness of the Old Testament to hear God's call and purpose for their own lives and respond to that call.
