mission

Second Presbyterian Church conducts a broad array of more than 40 ministries to persons who need food, medical care, clothing, and housing, and to persons with specialized problems, such as homeless children, battered women, and persons who need jobs. Click HERE for a list of a few of our partner agencies.

Get Involved!!

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved in one of the wonderful local organizations that are supported by our mission dollars but have just not had a chance to find the best fit for your time and talents, click HERE for the new spreadsheet of volunteer opportunities. It lists volunteer positions by type of work and time commitment required and gives contact information for the various organizations listed. You may also contact the church for more information, 410.467.4210.

Helping Hands in the Kitchen

If you like to chop, mix, stir, sauté, or just help other people, we can find a job for you! The first Thursday of each month, we gather in the church kitchen about 9 a.m. to put together 20 casseroles and brownies for the homeless and the hungry. This is a fun way to get together, get to know one another a little better, and make a difference at the same time! You don’t need to be a gourmet cook to help others. Please call the church office at 410.467.4210 if you can help.

Register Online Now!

Our Daily Bread is the only seven-days-a-week free hot meal program in Maryland that serves and waits on their guests. ODB serves an average of 770 guests. Guests include men, women, and children of all ages.

The Mission Council of Second Church arranged and committed to bringing at least 10 volunteers on September 18th. We meet at the church’s glass doors at 8:30 a.m. (though some meet us at ODB) and carpool down to the center. We return after we lunch at the center with the other volunteers usually a little before 1 p.m.

Reminder: No tank tops or short shorts. Please wear knee length shorts, closed toed shoes, and a baseball cap (or a hair net will be provided). Please RSVP to Jenn DiFrancesco by September 15th to reserve your spot.

Purses for PLASE

October 2 and 3, 2010
Donate or Volunteer at the Fell's Point Fun Fest, October 2 and 3!
Call 410.837.1400!

Come out to support Project PLASE at the 44th Annual Fell’s Point Fun Fest! PLASE collects new and gently used purses to sell at our Purses for PLASE booth. You’ll find great deals and all proceeds go towards serving Baltimore’s most vulnerable homeless citizens.

The Fun Festival is an outdoor street fest held in Baltimore’s original deep water seaport, Fell’s Point. It draws a crowd of more than 700,000 with vendors, entertainment, food, and music for the whole family and benefits The Preservation Society.

Project PLASE needs volunteers to sort the purses and run the booth at the Fest. The time commitment could be as little as a few hours in the afternoon to help them sort through purses.

To donate a purse or volunteer at our booth, please contact Jordan, their Development Associate at 410.837.1400 ext. 33.
