The Churches of Charles

Each year five churches along Charles Street join together to present a series of intellectually stimulating lectures on a timely topic. Every spring and fall we join with these churches for a four week series of noontime lectures and luncheons:

  • Second Presbyterian Church
  • First English Lutheran Church
  • The Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation
  • University Baptist Church
  • SS Philip and James Roman Catholic Church

Our topic this election year was "Faith and Politics: The Role of the Faith Community in the Public Policy Debate."

Please check back for information on our Lenten program. All programs begin at noon; no reservations are necessary for these free programs. Lunch is served after each program at the host church for $6 per person. Reservations are requested for lunch.

Adult Seminar Speaker Series

Please join us every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Smith Hall for this educational lecture series. Our Advent series this year features our own Cecilia Amaral, Pastoral Counselor, who will consider with you the topic of waiting as it is encouraged in the Advent Liturgy. We will listen to some of the men and women in the Scriptures who have "prepared the way of the Lord" for us. We will then consider what it would take for us to live out our personal Magnificat in response to the presence of God in our lives. Cecilia's series will run through Sunday, December 19.
